In this episode of gossip girl it is shown that as the summers of the upper East siders comes to a close, Blaire returns back from Europe where she spent her her summer trip, accompanied by a new boyfriend, whose name is James. Just to make Chuck jealous she takes him to Houston where she spends the last few weeks of summer before ending with him.  However, James himself has a secret which he is hiding from everyone. Serena is very distressed and has sinking feeling within her as she is finding it very difficult to overcome the felling after the break up with Dan. So she starts having a liking towards a young life guard.

Meanwhile, Nate is in a very steamy relationship with a matured woman. The name of that woman is Catherine and she is already married. Rufus is still on his tour along with his band performing at various places. Dan has taken up a job in New York  with a demanding editor of a magazine. To get over the felling of break up with Serena he has gone on a dating spree along with a numerous girls. Jenny has taken up a job at a fashion company where she is working under cynical, devil incarnated Laurel . Laurel always holds Jenny back as she feels that this new intern, Jenny is too ambitious and could prove a threat to her own job.
