In this episode of Lost it is shown that Hurley is the main focus of flashback. He is very insecure of his weight as years earlier when he stepped onto a deck with 23 people under it, it collapsed killing two of the people out of one was his own father. After the incident he had a mental breakdown and his mother send him to a psyche ward. On the island, Hurley is suffering from his sickness of his over indulgence in the food. He had also kept a stack of food in a hidden location. With the help of Libby he is able to destroy the stash, only to be deterred by the new supply of food that had landed on the island by the transport plane.

He then begins to see a man in a bath robe who is recognized by Hurley. Again in flashback at time in psyche ward, we find out that this friend Dave of Hurley is incarcerated with him. This man turns out to be the same person whom Hurley is seeing on island. Through a doctor-patient conversation we Hurley gets to know that he is imaging Dave, Dave is in self destructive mind of Hurley who wants Hurley to always eat and never loose his weight. Hurley asks Sawyer for some medicine but when he refuses and starts to make fun of him he starts to beat him. Hurley is on cliff about to commit suicide when he saved by Libby.
